Psalm 27:4 "One thing have I desired; that will I seek after. That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life."

Babies, Babies, Babies

To say that we’ve been busy around here is a pretty big understatement.  On February 28th, Joyful Noise gave birth to twins.  Since we weren’t expecting her to go first, she was still in the pen with the other sheep and Daisy tried to steal her babies.  After we got them separated in the freezing cold, we couldn’t get Joy to bond with them.  After a long, cold night of traipsing the babies out to the barn to tie Joy up to let them nurse, we decided they had enough colostrum and kept them in the kitchen in a dog crate to be  bottle fed.  This is Tipsy and Tina.  They are hungry little love bugs.

Then the next day, March 1st, Daisy had a single.  Since her first baby was named Stormie, Karra decided this one should be Misty in keeping with the Chincoteague pony thing she had started.  Misty is a little chub being raised on good Mama milk.

And today Kristen really felt she should put Honey into the jug this morning but decided to wait until we brought the babies (Tipsy and Tina) their bottles.  Oops!  Should have done it.  Honey had triplets!

She had two boys and a girl bringing this year’s total to 3 each.  It’s up to Stormie to break the tie or keep it even.

We’re going to sell Tipsy as soon as I get a posting up on craigslist.  He’s already trying to mount Tina and Misty and he isn’t even two weeks old!  Honey’s boys will be wethered and sold for meat, or if they don’t sell, we’ll have them butchered for the freezer.  It’s hard to think of those sweet little babies ending up in the freezer, but they grow up to be big, strong and strong-minded rams.  Speaking of strong-minded rams, I have someone who wants to look at Joshua next week.  I should be able to get a good price for him with all of the color he’s thrown into his babies.  Which makes me think we should keep the above spotted ram intact and maybe wether little Tipsy.  Such decisions.  But they better be made soon or little Romeo is going to breed ’em young like his daddy!

And That’s What’s Happening on the Hobby Farm!
