|We were so excited to get a rooster for the hobby farm & eventually to have little chick-chicks running around. I guess it isn’t going to happen with this rooster.
Tuesday he jumped on Kristen’s head, but she was in the run and holding one of the chickens. Wed. he came at me while I was petting Sarah. Friday he chased Kristen up the deck stairs for petting a chicken.
Today, he came at me while I was getting eggs out of the coop! I have to lean way into my coop to collect the eggs & I barely got my arm out. That was the close egg. I grabbed the shovel & shooed him out of the coop & almost had the egg from the far nest box when he came back & attached the shove. The shovel is red so I’m sure that didn’t help. I had to go in the house and get Luke and bring him out on the leash, let the chickens out of the run & have the dog guard me while I got the eggs.
This will not work in the winter when the chickens have to stay shut in the coop because of the weather.
He was advertised as non people aggressive. I wonder what we did to him?
I just need to remind myself that it took 2 cows & 3 dogs to get to the right one. Maybe we just need another rooster.
And That’s What’s Happening on the Homestead.
