It started about 8 o’clock this morning. When do we leave? What time do we have to go? Is it time to go yet? It’s a mixed blessing that Wednesday is such a short school day. Kristen came downstairs at 7:30 this morning, dressed for the barn. She managed to get me out the door at ten to one for a 1:30 lesson. She drug me out so quickly that I forgot the camera! Her 1/2 hour lesson ended up about 45 minutes. She brushed and saddled Melody and led her around in the ring, and then it was leg up! She learned that not all horses are trained to go when you squeeze their sides with your legs. She led Mel back to the aisle & untacked her and put her in the stall. She helped Zach put the blanket back on her and close up the stall.
The owner was there exercising a young horse & was very impressed with Kristen. He couldn’t believe that she had only ridden one other time. He said she looked very comfortable in the saddle and had an ease about her that just "comes" to some people. She’s a natural!!!
Now, what do I do with her after next week’s lesson, when she has to wait 3 whole weeks for lesson #3??
And that’s what’s happening on the homestead.
