Up & out the door at 8am sharp!! We were on our way to launch the fall ’09 soccer season. It could have been much more difficult with two kids playing at the same time, but their games were on fields right next to each other. We set up at Kristen’s field & took turns walking "next door" to watch Kurt. Off they flew at 9am. Kristen was really, REALLY impressive in her debut. She didn’t score a goal, but she had a couple of good shots on goal. She was very, very tired after back to back games, but she had a terrific time. It’s going to take time for her to learn the game & remember to stay in her position, but this is definitely going to be a good sport for her – grit, grunt, goal! And Kurt – scored a goal!!!! A legitimate, he dug it out of the group & shot it in – GOAL!
We’ve been able to get some mowing & cleaning up done outside today. I finally cut the weeds growing around the chicken run. I had to use the tree pruners! The fence is still there – surprise, surprise.
We’re starting to modify our animal list. I’m still determined to have a Dexter (maybe a mini Beltie, too??), Karra’s Katahdin lamb, my fiber animal, and possible a Kinder goat to eat Joel’s weeds and for milk to make soap and beauty products. Maybe Karra & I have a business in our future?
Speaking of business, Joel’s always telling me I need to think of what I want to do when he quits working. My Mom & I were talking, and since we love books so much, we decided that I should open a used book store. It would be so much fun! Book, after book, after dusty volume, after day, after day with books, books, and more books!!!! It’s absolutely perfect. What a boon to fellow homeschoolers. I could go to flea markets & yard sales & scrounge for the perfect books to fill my store – and of course read them – and buy back & sell again. As long as Joel doesn’t get any fancy ideas about starting the store with my collection! Those are for the GRANDCHILDREN!
And that’s what’s happening on the homestead.
