I haven’t blogged this week because I’ve been busy trying to get cleaning & school stuff & errands done before running up to Michigan to visit & get the kids. Yesterday was my busiest day by far:
Rinse the carpet in the sewing room (I shampooed Thurs. night) & the mats in the laundry room.
Do laundry (6 loads) I had the clothes line full & the dryer running
Return Debbies dish (she had made lasagna for us Monday night – yum! I made a pretty good for a first try French bread to go with it. It really needed Kristen’s gentle bread touch. That girl has got a gift in the kitchen!)
Take the recycling in & pick up my prescription.
Make enchiladas for the freezer & turn the rest of the 5 lbs. into burger patties for the freezer.
Make potato salad.
Clean the bathrooms.
Pack the suitcase (I’ve got half of it in the car).
Trim the kids pictures that I picked up on Wed. & label the back of them – ready to give to family.
Clean Catnip’s litter.
Freeze the corn from the garden. I wasn’t sure if it was ready or not, but the 19 ears that I picked were good, so they are blanched & in the freezer.
Pay the bills that will be due when I get back.
I started at 8:45, sat down for an hour at lunch & then didn’t sit down again until I climbed in the car at 4:15. I was soooo tired last night. I’ve got the animals tended this morning & dealt with my compost. I need to wash & dry the dishes & get the car loaded. I have a couple of errands on my way out of town. Kristen has been very homesick & she wanted me to come up early. I just couldn’t with so much to do here & so much easier to do it with the kids gone. I’m looking forward to the visit & the fair & then coming back home for one more week before school starts. That week is going to be so very busy, too. Starting school may actually be something of a letdown after the whirlwind of August!
And that’s what’s happening on the homestead!
